Let it be Quiet in my Room!
by Yitzkhak Viner
Let it be quiet in my room!
Let me hear the birds singing,
their trilling ringing,
And lull away my heart ache…
Listen, out there, drayman horse and wagon,
you will scare the birds away,
wake me from my dreams,
chase away my drop of joy…
Don’t cough mother, don’t cough father,
It’s a shame to spoil the calm,
so the singing can’t be heard
of the well fed little birds…
Quiet little sister, brothers!
Don’t weep and cry for drink and food…
try to forget that for a while,
Do not disturb my weaving songs…
