I Sing A Song Of Rosy Faith

I Sing a Song of Rosy Faith
by Kalman Lis

I sing a song of rosy faith
in black and yellow sundown.
and see how clear white doves,
fly forth with verses of my song.

My words are common, plain and simple,
as plain as what is really there –
in today’s brown rusty autumn
in the birch tree’s golden hair.

I sing this song and feel the stream
of verses flowing fresh and new,
like stallions breaking out of fences
feel the light of freedom’s view…

And if the fall is drenched with rain
with raging winds and bitter cold, –
my song – a brown deer on the road –
runs free with solace for the world…
