To the Sun
by Moishe Kaufman
Don ‘t tease my heart with golden rays
Let tears flow from my eyes
My life’s room is a prison cell
Oh leave me alone in deep sorrow
Don’t remind me, let me forget
when one morning we sat at the waters edge
water whispered to sandy shore
and she swore to love me, forever more
Don’t remind me of those times
when we strolled among gold garden beds
and I heard the bluebirds sing
to be with you always is my desire
Don’t wake me, I want to forget
the most beautiful moments under a tree
birds sang and branches whispered low
and she kissed me and said don’t talk
Don’t waken feelings of love in me
my strings for play burst long ago
